(Miri, 24th) The results for the 2024 Malaysian Higher School Certificate (STPM) modular exams were announced today, bringing more good news from the Sixth Form students at Miri Chung Hua Middle School. All candidates achieved a 100% pass rate, with a total grade point average (GPA) of 3.11—an increase of 0.18 compared to last year’s 2.93. With this significant improvement, the school successfully ranked among the top 12 best secondary schools in Sarawak, placing eighth, a truly inspiring achievement.
This year, a total of 8 science stream students from the school sat for the exams, and all achieved full subject passes. Among them, student Chen Zeyi clinched the outstanding result of straight A’s, while Fan Yingyi obtained 3A1B, Fang Junjie received 2A2B, and Fang Shiqi earned 1A2B1C.
In addition, two students scored 4B’s, one achieved 1B3C, and another obtained 2B’s. These remarkable results reflect the students’ unrelenting efforts and have laid a solid foundation for their imminent admission to many renowned local universities, where a new chapter of their lives will begin this September.
Principal Lai Jia Ling remarked that the modular system of the STPM program is highly flexible, allowing students to resit subjects with unsatisfactory results to improve their overall performance. This provides more space and opportunities for students to plan their studies and pursue excellent grades.
She noted that the school boasts first-class facilities and an experienced teaching team, dedicated to creating a safe, comfortable, and conducive environment for learning, serving as a strong support for students’ academic development.
It is worth mentioning that Principal Lai was also invited to attend the Malaysian Higher School Certificate Excellence Awards Ceremony organized by the Kuching State Education Department, where she received a prestigious award on behalf of the school—a high recognition of the tireless dedication of all staff and students.
The school hereby sincerely invites Form Five graduates to seize the opportunity to choose Chung Hua as their top choice for Sixth Form studies, making full use of the school’s comprehensive resources and environment, and preparing thoroughly for their future development.
