Chiew Choon Man and Wife Lead Team in Deep Cleaning Activities in Disaster Area

(Miri, 3rd) Miri Member of Parliament Chiew Choon Man, along with his wife and volunteers from the Miri MP Service Center, participated in a cleaning activity at the priest residential area of Gereja St. Columba Parish yesterday.

Due to the preceding heavy rain, soil and sand from the nearby hillside washed into the area, causing drains to be clogged and filled with sand. Chiew Choon Manexpressed heartfelt gratitude to everyone present who contributed their efforts, stating that the activity showcased the spirit of unity and cooperation, holding deep significance for the community.

He revealed that in the coming week, the Miri MP Service Center will continue to collaborate with local volunteers and members of the People’s Justice Party to conduct emergency aid work, assisting flood victims and carrying out cleaning operations at important locations such as schools, kindergartens, religious places, and affected residential homes.

Chiew Choon Man emphasized that ensuring the smooth execution of aid work and listening to the needs of each affected resident is the team’s top priority.

Moreover, in the upcoming parliamentary session, Zhao Junwen plans to propose several key issues, including expediting the distribution of post-flood assistance by various departments, reassessing the drainage system and implementing a comprehensive flood control plan, and requesting the federal government to provide financial support, especially for possible village relocations required for safety reasons, such as Kampung Lereng Bukit in Miri Canada Hill.
