(Kuching, 12th) Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari pointed out that the Sarawak government is committed to promoting a thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem while nurturing and supporting the development and efforts of local entrepreneurs.
"At this critical moment, Sarawak is one of the top investment destinations for foreign investors. This is evidenced by the delegation led by Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah which recently explored the possibility of increasing investments from China. It was a fruitful trip, with meetings and visits potentially bringing over RM 7 billion in investments. Potential projects include solar glass, building materials, and renewable energy projects."
He stated that if these projects are realized, they could create business and employment opportunities for local SMEs and the local community.
As Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari was unable to attend the 73rd Sarawak Chamber of Commerce dinner last night, his speech was read out by the Minister of Utilities and Telecommunications, Datuk Seri Julaihi Narawi.
Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari reiterated that Sarawak will achieve economic diversification through agricultural modernization, infrastructure development, and the enhancement of the tourism and human capital sectors, which are the cornerstones for achieving long-term prosperity.
"In pursuit of balanced development, we are accelerating rural transformation by improving infrastructure, which will open new avenues for economic activities, create job opportunities, and stimulate growth across Sarawak."
He also emphasized the importance of sound financial management to ensure that revenue strategies support reinvestment in key sectors and infrastructure projects benefiting all Sarawakians.
He disclosed that to enhance the competitiveness of Sarawak SMEs on the global stage, the Sarawak government has allocated RM 39.7 million for 2025.
He said that this fund will support programs such as development and training, credit schemes, digitization, promotion, marketing, product development, and incubator programs.
