MCA President Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong pointed out that in the Ayer Kuning state assembly by-election, the majority of the Chinese voters who came out to vote supported Barisan Nasional, indicating that the efforts of the three MCA bodies have been recognized.

He said that the Barisan Nasional candidate Yusri received 11,065 votes, the PAS candidate Muhaimi received 6,059 votes, and the Socialist Party candidate Bawani received 1,106 votes, indicating that the local voters were more supportive of Barisan Nasional's diverse and progressive governing approach.

“Ayer Kuning has a total of 31,897 voters, including 6,731 Chinese. According to informal statistics from the Barisan Nasional operation room, the vast majority of Chinese voters who came out to vote today supported Barisan Nasional, and the efforts of colleagues in the three MCA bodies have been recognized.”

Wee Ka Siong congratulated Yusri on his victory in a Facebook post and wished him to continue to uphold the spirit of service, leading Ayer Kuning towards a more prosperous and united future.

He also thanked MCA Deputy President and Perak State Chairman Datuk Ma Han Soon for leading the MCA campaign team in their tireless efforts over the past two weeks to ensure more Chinese voters came out to vote, allowing Barisan Nasional to achieve the final victory.

“At the same time, I also want to thank the MCA central leadership, state leaders, the Tapah divisional committee, and the colleagues of its affiliated branches for their contributions. Of course, we cannot forget the national and state MCA assembly members who traveled tirelessly to Ayer Kuning to support the election.”
