A landslide occurred near a factory, resulting in the death of two employees. One person managed to escape in time, while the other was buried under soil for three hours and was found dead.
The Fire and Rescue Department received a report of the accident, which happened near a factory in Pengerang, Kota Tinggi District, Johor at around 1pm on Tuesday (30th), and deployed nine firefighters to the scene.
According to Sebana Cove Fire and Rescue senior commander Mohamad Khairul, two workers in charge of pipeline work were buried.
He stated that one local employee, aged 32, escaped in time, while the other, a 52-year-old Indonesian, was buried under about three meters of soil.
He added that authorities used ropes, excavators, and digging tools for the rescue operation. The Indonesian worker was rescued at around 4pm, but unfortunately was already dead.
He said that the deceased's body was handed over to the police for processing. Authorities left only after confirming the site was safe, and the rescue operation ended at 4:25pm.
