Romania, a NATO member state bordering Ukraine, scrambled fighter jets on the 19th to respond to another drone incursion into its airspace.
The Romanian Ministry of Defense stated that, following Russia's airstrikes on Ukraine, two German fighter jets stationed in Romania took off shortly after midnight to monitor the airspace near the country's border with Ukraine.
The Romanian Ministry of Defense said: “Another two F-16 fighter jets from the Romanian Air Force were also urgently scrambled.”
The Romanian Ministry of Defense pointed out that the drone intermittently appeared on radar for about 12 minutes, and military authorities have sent warning notifications to residents in the two locations where drones appeared.
In addition to Romania, Moldova also reported that its airspace was violated by a drone.
The Moldovan Ministry of Defense said in a statement: “After exchanging information with our partners from Ukraine and Romania, it has been confirmed that a drone flew over our airspace.”
