(Miri, 8th) Regarding the decision by Miri Mayor YB Adam Yii to reposition large garbage bins, Sarawak Democratic Action Party Secretary Alan Ling welcomes this decision and believes that it reflects the public opinion finally getting attention.

He reminded the municipal council that in today's rapidly advancing technological era, as long as it is legal, any channel can become a way for the public to voice their opinions.

He frankly stated that if citizens' demands can be smoothly conveyed and accepted by the authorities through normal channels, there would be no need to resort to media pressure.

This incident shows that emerging platforms like social media have become important ways to reflect issues upwards. Even a complaint on Facebook often reflects the real difficulties at the grassroots level. He called on the municipal council to adopt a more open attitude towards these voices instead of resisting or ignoring them.

Meanwhile, he agrees with the municipal council's strict enforcement against illegal acts that disrupt the city's appearance by littering but also reminds citizens to make good use of the newly set large garbage bins, fulfill their responsibilities, and maintain the cleanliness of Miri's environment together.

He emphasized that the cleanliness and comfort of Miri is not only the government's responsibility but also requires the active cooperation of citizens.

However, he also expressed views on the repeated adjustments of municipal council policies, suggesting that the authorities should conduct more thorough assessments before making decisions to avoid constant changes that result in resource wastage and administrative chaos.

He stated that a mature management institution should conduct thorough research before implementing policies, instead of hastily revising them due to overwhelming public complaints after execution. He hopes that similar situations will not occur in the future to avoid affecting the public's trust in the government.

Alan Ling emphasized that the Sarawak Action Party will continue to voice for the public, ensuring government decisions are more aligned with public needs and together promoting Miri as a more livable city.
