6 Suspicions Surrounding Yu Menglong's Death by Falling – Netizens Suspect He Was Forced by Unspoken Rules

Published at Sep 12, 2025 03:24 pm
Chinese actor Yu Menglong, who starred in “Eternal Love” (“Three Lives, Three Worlds, Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms”), as well as “Lin Jiang Xian” and “Eternal Night Galaxy,” was extremely popular. In the early hours of the 11th, news suddenly broke that he had fallen to his death in a Beijing residential complex. However, the cause of death has been widely questioned. Police have yet to provide further explanation for numerous suspicious traces at the scene, including scratch marks outside the window and damaged screens—key evidence that remains unexplained. Netizens have raised six major points of suspicion and demand a thorough investigation into the cause of death.

According to witnesses at the scene, the incident occurred at a 5th-floor apartment in the complex. Yu Menglong was at a friend's home on the 10th and was found dead on the ground of the 1st floor around 6 am on the 11th. His studio confirmed his death at around 6 pm the same day, stating that the police had ruled out the possibility of a criminal case. Netizens expressed doubts about how a “not a criminal case” conclusion was reached in just 12 short hours.

Yu Menglong’s career was on the rise; he was scheduled to record a CCTV program the next day. Netizens noticed several suspicious details at the scene, including numerous scratch marks in an arched pattern on the window below the spot where he fell. Residents noted that the building used metal screens, which are difficult to damage by hand without tools. Furthermore, Yu Menglong had a known fear of heights, was active online at around 9 pm the previous night, had several upcoming projects, was his family's only son, and had no motive to take his own life. Netizens are calling on the police to disclose more details, including surveillance footage, fingerprint forensics, and other critical evidence to clarify the truth.

Rose to Fame, Allegedly Refused Unspoken Rules, Resulted in ‘Being Frozen’ and Ended Star Path
Yu Menglong’s early success cemented his place as a “costume drama idol,” even ascending to lead roles, but his career took a sudden downturn, reportedly due to being “frozen” by his company. Rumors suggest that in 2020, Yu Menglong refused inappropriate demands allegedly made by a female producer or investor, leading his company to purposefully sideline him. For three consecutive years, he had almost no new projects, missing out on his golden years as an actor. Upon his return, the roles offered shrank to minor supporting roles, making it hard to regain his former glory.
Yu Menglong became friends with Yang Mi while filming ‘Eternal Love’.
Yu Menglong was born in Ürümqi, Xinjiang. He studied piano and cello from a young age and had a keen interest in the arts. In 2013, he competed in “Super Boy,” winning the Beijing division championship and placing 10th overall nationwide. In 2015, his role as Ninth Prince Qi Han in “Go Princess Go” garnered attention, and in 2017, he played Bai Zhen, Yang Mi’s brother, in “Eternal Love,” charming audiences with his handsome features and cool demeanor, earning him the title “costume drama idol.” He later starred in “The Legend of White Snake,” “The Love Lasts Two Minds,” and other series, rapidly increasing his popularity. However, during his time being frozen, Yu Menglong’s exposure sharply declined. He once openly wondered in interviews whether he was suited for show business.

In addition to career setbacks, all of Yu Menglong’s registered companies were dissolved at the end of last year and in July this year. His last public appearance was in July, when he recorded a variety show. He appeared thin but in good spirits and did not display any unusual behavior.

Yang Mi and Dilraba Dilmurat Mourn Their Friend
Yang Mi met Yu Menglong during “Eternal Love,” where they played siblings and continued their friendship off-screen. She left a heartfelt message: “Fourth brother, may you be well in another world.” Dilraba Dilmurat, who also appeared in “Eternal Love,” wrote: “In my memory, you were always the gentle and sincere Bai Zhen. Later, when we met again on a show, you were still that kind and gentle Yu Menglong. Rest in peace, you will always be remembered…”
