July National Flag Raising Ceremony Cultivates Patriotism Among Sarawakians

(Kuching, 13th) In celebration of Sarawak Day, the July National Flag Raising Ceremony was solemnly held this morning at Dataran Ibu Pertiwi, once again highlighting the symbol of unity.
This ceremony, officiated by Sarawak Minister of Transport Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin and organized by the Kuching North City Hall, aims to continuously foster patriotism and a sense of identity among the people of Sarawak.
The 'National Flag' raised measures 25 meters in length and 12.4 meters in width, flying on a 99.4-meter-tall flagpole, becoming the focal point of the ceremony as well as one of the city’s iconic landmarks.

The ceremony commenced with a parade inspection by the Kuching North City Hall honor guard, followed by the singing of Sarawak’s anthem "Ibu Pertiwiku." Local singer Tini Tyrani then presented a Sarawak Day-themed performance, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Sarawak.
Since its inception in July 2024, the ceremony has become a regular event held on the first Sunday of each month and is open to the public.
The inaugural ceremony was officiated by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari in July last year.
This flag raising ceremony also demonstrated the close cooperation between the Kuching North City Hall and the Ministry of Transport Sarawak (MOTS), adding vibrancy to the Sarawak Day celebrations through this symbolic event.
Attendees included Kuching North City Mayor Dato Hilmy, MOTS Permanent Secretary Dato Wong Hee Sieng, MOTS Deputy Permanent Secretary Selamat, Sarawak Maritime Director Bianus, and members of the Kuching North City Hall, among others.
