Writing Love Letters for Yu Chiu-Hsing, Yen Chih-Lin: 'I Know All His Girlfriends'

Power Station’s “All Because of Love” World Tour wrapped up its final stop on the 11th at the Resorts World Genting Arena of Stars! Yu Chiu-Hsing and Yen Chih-Lin delivered a string of classic hits, stirring the crowd with their electrifying rock energy. This marked Power Station’s fifth concert in Malaysia in three years, with the 'All Because of Love' tour visiting Malaysia thrice, making the final stop in Malaysia as a testament to the duo’s appreciation for their Malaysian fans. Upon learning that some fans had attended all three concerts, Yu Chiu-Hsing gratefully joked, “Please accept my deep bow!” and even revealed that he “loved being in relationships” when he was young, but because his handwriting was poor, he always asked Yen Chih-Lin to ghostwrite his love letters, drawing laughter from the audience!
The Power Station “All Because of Love” World Tour Final was held over two consecutive nights on the 11th and 12th, with the first night selling out and an extra show quickly added, attracting a total of 10,000 attendees over both nights. Yu Chiu-Hsing joked, “This tour ran for three years, and we’ve come to Malaysia five times, three of which were for this tour (including the 2023 show in Kuala Lumpur’s Axiata Arena, the 2024 show in Sarawak’s Kuching Stadium Perpaduan, and this stop at Resorts World Genting).” Yen Chih-Lin then asked the audience, “Has anyone been to all three?” When someone in the crowd raised their hand and screamed, Yu Chiu-Hsing shouted, “Please accept my deep bow!”

After taking the stage, the duo performed “Rock Zone,” “Keep Spinning,” and “Long Live Hit Songs,” instantly igniting the atmosphere. Visiting Malaysia almost every year, they joked that they had become very familiar with Malaysian fans. Yen Chih-Lin said, “Whether it’s a concert or a commercial show, Malaysian audiences are awesome.” Yu Chiu-Hsing chimed in, “Malaysia is great!” Yen Chih-Lin then declared, “Love you all!,” receiving cheers from the crowd.
The two kept interacting with the audience throughout the night. Noticing an audience member whose glasses were stuck with confetti, Yu Chiu-Hsing quipped, “Since this is the final show, tonight’s confetti is free and will only get more and more!” When a fan shouted “Husband, I love you,” Yu Chiu-Hsing laughed and replied, “Sorry, I already have a wife.” Then, pointing at Yen Chih-Lin, he joked, “Or are you calling him?” Yen Chih-Lin picked up the banter, “I think I heard it was a guy calling out ‘Husband, I love you’ to you!” setting off laughter in the hall.

After performing “I Don’t Know,” Yu Chiu-Hsing revealed, “The brush calligraphy lyrics on the screen were actually written by Yen Chih-Lin.” He complimented his partner’s beautiful handwriting, then confessed that back in his youth, he loved being in relationships, but his handwriting was ugly, so he always asked Yen Chih-Lin to copy his love letters. “My wife’s not here, so I can say this: I loved being in relationships as a kid! But my handwriting was bad, so I always wrote a draft, then had Yen Chih-Lin write it out for me.” Yen Chih-Lin laughed, “So I know all of his girlfriends.” Yu Chiu-Hsing added, “He wrote love letters to several girls for me!” making everyone laugh. He wrapped it up jokingly, “I want everyone to know, Yen Chih-Lin can not only sing and play the guitar, but he can also write brush calligraphy. He’s really multi-talented.” Yen Chih-Lin then asked, “What else besides that?” Yu Chiu-Hsing answered, “Besides that, not much else.”
With 28 years since their debut, Power Station has released countless classics. Yu Chiu-Hsing admitted that song selection was tough: “It was extremely difficult choosing the songs for this concert. There were so many that everyone wanted to hear, but there’s just no way to sing them all. I hope you got to hear what you love; if not, please forgive us—next time we’ll sing them for you.” That night, they performed classic after classic like “Ruthless Love Letter,” “Tomorrow’s Tomorrow’s Tomorrow,” “Coat,” “Reluctant to Let Go,” “Impulse,” “Never Forget the Original Intention,” “Besides Loving You, Who Else Can I Love,” “Betrayal Love Song,” and “Rainbow,” leading the crowd in singalongs. During the request segment, they dedicated the pandemic-era comforting song “I’ll Face It With You” to Malaysian fans, then performed “So Be It” as an extra song, giving the audience surprise after surprise.

During the encore, after Power Station finished the most anticipated classic “When,” the crowd was still not satisfied, chanting “Encore!” Yu Chiu-Hsing replied with a helpless smile, “We’re still standing right here!” Yen Chih-Lin followed up with, “How about we go offstage first?” Yu Chiu-Hsing answered, “If we go, there’s no guarantee we’ll come back!” making the audience break out in laughter.
Yu Chiu-Hsing then emotionally shared, “Many people ask if we’ll be able to keep singing till we’re 80 years old.” Yen Chih-Lin joked, “At 80 we’ll have to sing lying down.” Yu Chiu-Hsing added, “Then I’ll sing in a wheelchair.” He went on sincerely, “I hope everyone cherishes every Power Station concert experience.” Finally, he professed to the audience, “Tonight is our final show. We really can’t bear to leave you all. There’s still one more show tomorrow, so I hope we get to see you again. New friends are welcome to join us!” The two finally closed the first night’s show with “Take a Walk Down Zhongxiao East Road Nine Times.”
