On the 14th, the EU approved a new sanctions plan against Russia, aimed at targeting its "shadow" oil tanker fleet.
The EU threatens that if Russia does not agree to a ceasefire with Ukraine, it will face further penalties.
This is the 17th round of sanctions imposed by the EU on Russia since Russia took military action against Ukraine in 2022.
Poland, the holder of the rotating EU presidency, announced that the new sanctions plan will be officially implemented next Tuesday (20th).
The new sanctions plan includes blacklisting approximately 200 tankers used to circumvent Russian oil export restrictions.
In addition to nearly 2,400 individuals and entities already facing visa bans and asset freezes, dozens of Russian officials are also included in this sanctions list. Furthermore, companies from Vietnam, Serbia, Turkey, and other countries accused of assisting in supplying materials to the Russian military are facing sanctions.
The EU also imposed sanctions on Russian individuals for cyber-attacks, human rights violations, and deliberate sabotage in Europe.
