On the 5th, U.S. President Trump stated that Vice President Vance is 'most likely' to become the Republican presidential nominee in 2028.
This is Trump’s clearest statement so far regarding Vance as the next presidential nominee. Previously, he had refrained from endorsing any 2028 successor.
When asked by the media if Vance was the obvious successor to his 'Make America Great Again' (MAGA) movement, Trump said: 'I think he is most likely. To be fair, he is the vice president.'
Trump also suggested that Vance and Secretary of State Rubio could run together as the Republican presidential and vice-presidential candidates in the future.
Although there is still a long time until the 2028 U.S. presidential election, Trump wields considerable influence within the Republican Party’s base.
