(Bandar Seri Begawan, 8th) Five students from Kiu Ting Chinese School recently participated in the 6th 'Hang' Chinese Cultural Knowledge Competition, organized by Chung Hwa Middle School Brunei in 2025. Through solid preparation and outstanding performance, they stood out from numerous participants and achieved excellent results.
What is particularly commendable is that most of the award-winning students are from other ethnic groups. Despite having relatively weak Chinese language foundations, they showcased remarkable understanding of Chinese culture and learning potential through their efforts.
The award ceremony was held at the 'He Ping Hall', Chung Hwa Middle School Brunei, on the morning of February 7, 2026.
Principal Tao Meihua, instructor Hu Ting, and the parents of the winning students attended the ceremony to witness the students' glorious moment together.
The list of award winners is as follows: Champion Hong Weijie, First Runner-up Liu Siling, Second Runner-up Lai En, and Merit Awards to Wu Maila and Hadien.
During the preparation period, under the guidance of their teachers, the students actively studied materials and memorized attentively. In the fierce competition of answering 100 Chinese culture questions on the online platform within 30 minutes, they achieved encouraging results.
Principal Tao Meihua stated: 'The school always values students' all-round development and the cultivation of cross-cultural literacy. This achievement fully shows that as long as one is willing to put in the effort and study earnestly, every child can shine in a multicultural environment. She also highly praised the students’ attitude in overcoming language barriers and actively learning Chinese culture.'
