(Miri, 29th) Datuk Lee Xianyuan, President of the Malaysia Doumu Palace Nine Emperor Gods Association, pointed out that it is an honor and a happiness worth cherishing and being grateful for that Malaysian Chinese can live in a peaceful, harmonious, and prosperous society.
He stated that although Malaysia is a small country in Southeast Asia, it possesses hard-won religious freedom, multicultural tolerance, and an ethos of ethnic cooperation, which are the country's most precious assets.
“People of different races, cultures, and languages are able to live in harmony, respect each other, work side by side, and contribute to the nation’s development. This is what makes Malaysia worth cherishing most.”
Datuk Lee Xianyuan delivered his speech last night at the Malaysia Doumu Palace Nine Emperor Gods Association 2025 Yisi 27th Throne Seal Succession Ceremony and the Association’s 28th Anniversary Celebration, as well as the Hailong Temple 138th Transmission Anniversary Vegetarian Banquet.
The grand banquet was organized by Hailong Temple Doumu Palace Nine Emperor Gods Luohan Sanhuang Dragon Lord, Miri Division, and was enthusiastically held at the Hailong Temple Wu Qinglong Shizun 综合 Grand Hall, with over a hundred tables and more than a thousand attendees.
Lee Xianyuan pointed out that, looking at the world today, many countries are in turmoil, and many problems stem from ethnic and religious conflicts. However, Malaysia can maintain social peace and development thanks to wise governance and the wisdom of a united people.
“We have witnessed mutual assistance and tolerance among diverse ethnicities, and have also witnessed our Chinese community being able to establish itself. This is not only the fortune of the country but also the collective achievement of every citizen.”
He further stated that the development of Taoism in Malaysia, starting with the Nine Emperor Gods faith, has far-reaching spiritual and cultural influence, and deserves the respect and inheritance from the whole society.
“The symbolism of Taoism goes beyond religious rituals; it also contains profound moral teachings, cultural spirit, and philosophies of self-cultivation. Our education and faith emphasize ‘virtue’, that is, nurturing virtuous people and striving for the ideals of cultivating oneself, managing the family, governing the nation, and bringing peace to the world.”
He said as long as believers uphold the core values of Taoism and practice them in daily life and education, the beliefs and culture of the Nine Emperor Gods will continue to be honored and flourish within the Chinese community.
“I hope all friendly associations and devotees will unite, adhere to the righteous path, and use positive interactions to promote cultural exchange and the spread of faith, so that more people may understand and respect the wisdom and values of Taoism.”
Looking to the future, Lee Xianyuan also hopes that friends and devotees from all over the country will continue to provide both geographical and spiritual support, working together to promote the continuous growth of the Nine Emperor Gods culture in a peaceful and harmonious social environment.
