Rare Band-shaped Mirage Appears in Qinhuangdao, Hebei – 'Boats and Houses' Last Nearly 1 Hour

A rare band-shaped mirage recently appeared at the Aranya Gold Coast in Qinhuangdao, Hebei, China. According to eyewitnesses, the mirage displayed a variety of houses, columns, and large moving ships, making for a spectacular scene that lasted nearly an hour.

According to "Jimu News," Mr. Ma, who runs a guesthouse at the Aranya Gold Coast in Qinhuangdao, said that at around 2:20 PM on the 28th, while filming by the seaside, he noticed a blurry image appear near the far horizon. The image gradually became clearer, presenting as tidy horizontal stripes that extended from the left to the right of the horizon within his line of sight.

He said the mirage looked like a train built with building blocks, with various types of houses and large supporting columns inside, while in front, big ships were moving and floating. To the naked eye, the colors were brilliant, and the scenery was truly spectacular.

A tourist, Mr. Zhao, learned about the mirage that day and immediately went to film several videos. He said: “The image was particularly far away and very small, different from other mirages I've seen online.” According to Mr. Zhao's records, the mirage phenomenon lasted for at least one hour.

It is reported that a mirage is a natural optical phenomenon caused by the refraction and total reflection of light. Essentially, it is the result of light rays reflected from distant objects bending as they pass through atmospheric layers of different densities in the vertical direction, ultimately forming a virtual image that appears to the human eye.
