(Miri, 30th) Miri Member of Parliament Chiew Choon Man visited several mosques and prayer rooms in Miri in conjunction with the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations and participated in various donation programs organized for the needy. These projects not only bring joy to the beneficiaries ahead of the celebration but also enhance the spirit of unity and compassion within our community.
He mentioned that the main projects implemented included those in collaboration with Miri Baitulmal and local community leaders, where the Baitulmal and community committees identified and reached out to a list of aid recipients to receive donations at the At-taqwa Mosque. Through this close collaboration, aid can be systematically distributed to those truly in need. He expressed gratitude to everyone who helped organize the program.
"I donated gift vouchers worth RM100 and Hari Raya cookies to 130 needy individuals, hoping this donation can somewhat ease their burden in preparing for Hari Raya. These vouchers can be used to purchase daily necessities through the charity promotion program, which is organized concurrently with the donation program at At-taqwa Mosque. The recipients of this donation can continue to select and purchase essential items at lower prices through the charity promotion program, offering more value to consumers."
In addition, he also participated in the aid distribution program organized by the Miri Mabul Mosque, helping to distribute public donations collected by the mosque's welfare and orphanage to those in need. He expressed his deepest gratitude to all benefactors who donated and gave alms to the mosque. May all of their kindness and generosity be blessed doubly.
He stated that such efforts demonstrate that the spirit of cooperation and care continues to flourish in our community. Mosques are not only centers for worship but also hubs for welfare and community unity. He hopes more people will step up and lend a helping hand to those in need, not only during festive seasons but at any time.
"I also presented food aid to the Al-Ummah mosque committee and volunteers to thank them for their hard work in making mosque events successful and in assisting the local community. I hope this small donation can ease their burden and inspire them to continue serving the community."
He also mentioned that as the Member of Parliament for Miri, he will continue to do his utmost to fight for the fate and well-being of the people, especially those in need. He invites everyone to continue doing good deeds and instilling the values of love and care in society, so that we can form a community filled with compassion and prosperity.
