(Miri, 24th) Sarawak Deputy Minister of Tourism Datuk Chen Chao Yao personally visited the Miri Red Crescent evacuation center at around 4pm on March 22 to visit victims who were forced to leave their homes due to the fire in Kampung Pasir, Ludong. He handed over a sum of aid funds to each of the five affected families as a gesture of care.

The severe fire broke out in Kampung Pasir, Ludong at around 3am on the 19th of this month. The fire spread rapidly, engulfing a total of 10 wooden houses. Among them, 42 residents from 9 wooden houses were left homeless and have been temporarily relocated to the Miri Red Crescent evacuation center.

Datuk Chen Chao Yao said that on the day of the fire, his service team rushed to the scene at the earliest opportunity to assist with arrangements and applied to the Miri Resident’s Office to activate the evacuation center, providing temporary shelter for the displaced victims.

He emphasized that he and his team are actively coordinating with relevant government departments and agencies to ensure that the victims receive proper assistance. This includes convening an upcoming meeting with the Miri Land and Survey Department to discuss further assistance plans.

"My service team will continue to pay close attention to the actual needs of the victims, stand together with the affected families, and provide necessary assistance when needed," he said.

Datuk Chen Chao Yao also took the opportunity to thank all sectors of society for their caring concern and generous donations, and for actively providing various assistance after the fire incident to jointly help lighten the burden of the victims' livelihoods.
