UN Women pointed out on the 20th that since the outbreak of the latest round of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in October 2023, more than 28,000 women and girls have died in the flames of war in Gaza.
In a press release, UN Women said this equates to an average of one woman and one girl dying every hour due to Israeli military strikes on Gaza. Thousands of mothers have died in the conflict, leading to family tragedies.
UN Women stated that the Gaza ceasefire agreement broke down in March, and Israel's prevention of aid from entering Gaza has further deteriorated the situation.
UN Women once again called for an immediate ceasefire, immediate unobstructed humanitarian aid access to Gaza, and the immediate unconditional release of all detained individuals.
