Earlier this month, Leehom Wang held five shows of his ‘Best Place’ world tour in Shenzhen, with Ella (Chen Jiahua) joining one performance to sing S.H.E’s classic song ‘Super Star’, sparking a massive singalong from the crowd. Unfortunately, the live MV could not be released due to copyright issues, repeating last year’s situation where Mayday and Ella’s duet of ‘Mayday’ was taken down. Reportedly, the live video of ‘Super Star’ has already racked up over 10 million views on digital platforms, but is currently stalled and unable to be released officially.
Leehom Wang’s manager, Yang Wenjie, responded: “We have indeed encountered a copyright issue. The copyright for this song is held by the German group Sweetbox, and we are still negotiating. Thank you to Leehom’s fans for your patience!” As for rumors that the copyright holders demanded a high fee, he declined to reveal any details. ‘Super Star’ was originally composed by Sweetbox and is one of S.H.E’s signature songs.
