Zhao Leji, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China, stated that we must oppose clashes of civilizations and ideological confrontation, respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries, and adhere to non-interference in other countries' internal affairs; resolve differences through peaceful means and political solutions, and promote the building of an 'Asian security model of seeking common ground while reserving differences through dialogue and consultation.'
On the 26th, Zhao Leji delivered a keynote speech at the plenary session of the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2026 held in Hainan. He stated that at present, geopolitical conflicts and local wars are erupting one after another in the world, and the threats of hegemonism and power politics are on the rise; the people's desire for peace and development has become even more urgent, and their calls for fairness and justice have become even stronger.
He called for abandoning conflict and confrontation to create a bright future of peace and tranquility. Zhao Leji pointed out that the people of Asia have suffered deeply from the ravages of war and thus deeply value peace and stability; all parties should practice a security concept that is common, comprehensive, cooperative, and sustainable, respect each country's sovereignty and territorial integrity, adhere to non-interference in other countries' internal affairs, resolve differences through peaceful means and political solutions, and promote the building of an 'Asian security model of seeking common ground while reserving differences through dialogue and consultation.'
Zhao Leji emphasized the need to abandon power and bullying to create a bright future of fairness and justice. He said that the Asian people have a tradition of resisting colonialism, imperialism, and hegemonism; all parties should implement a concept of global governance based on extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits, uphold true multilateralism, resolutely safeguard the international system with the United Nations at its core and the international order based on international law, and promote the building of a fairer and more reasonable global governance system.
He also said that it is necessary to abandon closed and exclusive mindsets and create a bright future of cooperation and win-win outcomes. All parties should advocate inclusive and universally beneficial economic globalization, adhere to open cooperation and mutual achievement, leverage comparative advantages, eliminate all kinds of barriers, jointly safeguard the stability and smoothness of global industrial and supply chains, and inject more stability and positive energy into the world economy.
