Bao Gang has been officially elected as the Chairman of the People's Government of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, succeeding Wang Lixia, who was previously dismissed from the post.
According to a report from China News Service, the fourth meeting of the 14th People's Congress of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region was held on Saturday (October 18), at which Wang Weizhong was elected as Director of the Standing Committee of the People's Congress of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, and Bao Gang was elected as Chairman of the People's Government of the region.
Public information shows that Bao Gang is 56 years old this year and has spent most of his career working in Inner Mongolia. He previously served as a member of the Party Committee and Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission of the Inner Mongolia State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, Standing Committee Member and Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission of the Hohhot Municipal Committee, Vice Mayor of Hohhot, Deputy Secretary and Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission of the Wuhai Municipal Committee, Deputy Secretary and Mayor of Wuhai Municipal Committee, Deputy Secretary and Mayor of Baotou Municipal Committee, and Secretary of the Alxa League Party Committee, among other positions. In July 2018, Bao Gang was appointed Vice Chairman of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Government, and in 2021 he became a member of the Standing Committee of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Regional Party Committee and Secretary of the Hohhot Municipal Committee.
Wang Weizhong is currently Secretary of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Regional Party Committee, Director and Party Secretary of the Standing Committee of the Regional People's Congress, and President (Dean) of the Party School (Administrative Academy) of the region.
