Pop superstar Taylor Swift released her new album, The Life of a Showgirl, in early October, and it has been breaking records ever since. Not only did it immediately set the highest single-day streaming record for 2025 on multiple digital music platforms, but with more than 4 million copies sold in its first week, it became the album with the highest first-week sales in Billboard history. With this, she now has 15 number-one albums, making her the solo artist with the most number-one albums in Billboard history.
All 12 tracks from The Life of a Showgirl took over spots 1 through 12 on this week's Billboard Hot 100, marking the third time Taylor Swift has swept the top 10. No other artist in Billboard history has ever achieved such a chart dominance even once.
When Taylor Swift's first album sold 40,000 copies in its first week back in 2006, the then-16-year-old said: “I can’t imagine so many people care about my music enough to spend time and energy to support it. Since then, I’ve tried my best to meet and thank everyone who gave me the chance to chase this crazy dream.” Now, 19 years later, first-week sales for The Life of a Showgirl are a hundred times higher. Taylor described, “I have four million thank-yous to give my fans, and four million reasons to be prouder of this album than ever before.”
