(Kuching, 28th) The Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department and the Sarawak Customs Department successfully seized 552.49 kilograms of compressed drugs and 42,894 illegal pills during enforcement actions from January to October this year.
Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah, the Sarawak Minister of Women, Children, and Community Welfare, stated that according to statistics, the seized items are estimated to be worth 35 million ringgit.
She added that this rigorous action prevented as many as 199,471 drug uses in a month, saving approximately 24,933 people.
“This is very important for our enforcement agencies and the confiscation actions carried out. In this way, we can reduce the work of the one-stop committee in implementing supply, demand, treatment, and advocacy related to dealing with drug and substance issues.”
Fatimah mentioned this during a press conference following a related drug committee meeting.
Meanwhile, she also revealed that Sarawak's position in combating drugs remains at a good level.
