(Miri, 29th) A landslide occurred again at Kampung Lereng Bukit in Miri, Canada Hill, in the early hours today, causing two houses to collapse, involving 12 victims. As of this morning, the search and rescue team has found 4 deceased bodies, with 2 people still trapped.
Police held a press conference to report search and rescue progress
Miri District Police Chief ACP Alexson Naga Ak Chabu held a press conference at Surau Kampung Lereng Bukit at 12:30 PM to update the latest rescue progress.
He stated that at 10:40 AM, the search and rescue team found the body of the second deceased under the rubble of the collapsed house, a 41-year-old female. This was the second victim found since the search operation began in the early hours.
The search and rescue team continues to look for victims
Subsequently, at around 11:30 AM, the search and rescue team found the third deceased, a 12-year-old girl, under the rubble near the second body. Just 10 minutes later, at 11:40 AM, the fourth body was found, an 11-year-old girl.
So far, 4 victims have been confirmed dead, with 2 people still missing, including a 71-year-old female.
19 police officers and 85 rescue personnel involved in the search and rescue operation
Currently, a total of 19 police officers and 85 members from various rescue agencies continue the search and rescue work, striving to find the 2 victims still trapped.
