Vanness Wu’s New Wife is a Japanese Actress: Her Contrasting Charms are Captivating

47-year-old Vanness Wu (VanNess) ended his 5-year marriage with Singaporean heiress Arissa Cheo in 2018. On June 29, he suddenly announced his remarriage. The person he described as "the most important one in my life" was revealed by media to be Japanese actress Emi Aramaki. Having moved to the UK during childhood, she has striking beauty and a background similar to Vanness, who is a Chinese-American. The couple registered their marriage in Las Vegas, USA, in early May.

Emi Aramaki spent her early years in Fukuoka, moving to the UK at age 9. Though her appearance resembles a stylish model, she loves traditional culture like kimono and tea ceremony, giving her a captivating sense of contrast. Since childhood, she has shown a strong interest in music—learning piano at age 3, joining choir in middle and high school, and growing up inspired by both J-pop and Western genres like soul and jazz. She is especially influenced by soulful female singers such as Akina Nakamori and Sade.

Emi Aramaki has a Western appearance, but personally loves Showa-era music and films.
After graduating from University College London (UCL) with a degree in history, Aramaki moved between Tokyo, London, and Los Angeles to pursue music. She released her City Pop-style single "Lonely Night" in 2021, with a retro MV full of Showa vibes which drew attention. She then released "Night Ride"—all songs are written and composed solely by her, and she skillfully switches between English and Japanese lyrics based on the song's atmosphere.

In 2024, she shifted her focus back to Japan, successively releasing songs such as "Purple Dream", "SAYONARA", and "Scarlet Night". A fan of anime and Showa-era ballads, she is dedicated to bringing Showa music culture to a global audience. In addition, she studied acting at a drama school in the UK and appeared in films such as "Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit" and the series "FBI: International" (Season 4).
