(Kuching, 9th) The efforts and hardships endured by the former leaders to achieve peace through the 1924 Kapit Peace Agreement must be defended.

He said that former leaders had foresight, believing that peace could not only end conflicts but also serve as a starting point for more positive development.

He emphasized that the commitment of these leaders has left a precious legacy, creating a peaceful living environment where everyone, regardless of background or ethnicity, has the opportunity to develop.

“The Kapit Peace Agreement of 1924 is still a milestone for everyone, indicating that true progress is rooted in cooperation and mutual respect, irrespective of religious or ethnic differences. Only by continuing tolerance in our differences and working together can sustainable and long-lasting development be achieved.”

He said that this peaceful environment should be cherished by society and used as an opportunity to improve oneself and the community to ensure Sarawak people have a bright future.”

Alexander Nanta Linggi said this during his speech at the 100th anniversary celebration dinner of the 1924 Kapit Peace Agreement held last night at Kapit Hall.

Attendees included Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar and Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah binti Mohd. Sanusi.

Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, who is also the MP for Kapit, added that maintaining mutual respect and cooperation is key to ensuring the unity and progress of Kapit and all the people of Sarawak.

In this regard, he praised the various positive and decisive measures implemented by the Sarawak government under the leadership of the Premier of Sarawak, ensuring that the interior areas are not left behind.

He explained that the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS 2030) launched and successfully implemented by the Sarawak government also emphasizes inclusivity for all Sarawakians, drawing attention from multiple parties.
