(Sri Aman, 13th) The Sarawak government continues to demonstrate care for senior citizens by implementing various special allowances and programs to ensure the welfare of the elderly is secured and that they receive respect and attention from society.
Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability, Fan Changxi, pointed out that Sarawak is the first state in Malaysia to launch multiple welfare initiatives for seniors, showcasing that the state government has not neglected the elderly group, but instead is actively promoting a caring and loving society.
He said one of the important measures is the 'Kenyalang Gold Card' (KGC), which provides holders with various conveniences, including discounts, fee exemptions, and discounts on goods and services offered by government agencies, the private sector, and strategic business partners.
"We must always respect and treat the elderly kindly. They are not only experienced and have contributed greatly, but are also role models for the younger generation to emulate and learn from in life," Fan Changxi mentioned yesterday while officiating the 'Senior Day' celebration at the Sri Aman Sports Complex.
He added that a culture of respecting the elderly helps shape a loving and harmonious social atmosphere, and further promotes political, economic, and societal stability within the state.
This event was organized by Benteng Health Clinic, jointly coordinated with the Benteng Dental Clinic, Tulai Community Clinic, and Benteng Wellness Club, attracting more than a hundred seniors from the areas around Sri Aman.
On-site activities included a jogathon and fun games, aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle while enhancing camaraderie among the participants.
"The vitality and active participation spirit shown by all the seniors are admirable, fully proving that age is not a barrier to healthy and positive living," Fan Changxi added.
He also specially thanked the organizing chairman and all committee members for their efforts that contributed to the successful hosting of the event. He said that the event not only brought joy to the elderly but also reflected society’s recognition of their contributions.
范长锡拨款1万令吉予泗里街乐龄人士协会,作为该会来年的活动经费。

As a gesture of support, Fan Changxi announced an allocation of RM10,000 to the Sri Aman Senior Citizens Association, to be used as activity funds for the coming year.
