(Miri, 29th) Lian Lu Secondary School reached an important milestone on April 28—formally signing a sister school cooperation agreement with Hong Kong's Newman Catholic College, marking a new chapter for both schools in educational exchange, cultural interaction, and international collaboration.
This large-scale exchange event was led personally by Mr. Ng Wah Biu, Principal of Newman Catholic College, who headed a delegation of 106 students and 11 teachers traveling all the way to Miri for several days of educational visits and cultural exchange, fully demonstrating the high importance both schools attach to international educational collaboration.

On the eve of the signing ceremony (the 27th), Lian Lu Secondary School hosted a welcome dinner at The Forum Culture Centre, warmly receiving the teachers and students from Hong Kong. The dinner was held in a warm and harmonious atmosphere, and through relaxed and pleasant conversations, both schools’ teachers and students deepened their mutual understanding and friendship, laying a solid foundation for the formal signing the next day.
On the morning of April 28, the signing ceremony for the sister school Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was held with grandeur at the Lian Lu Sheng Yang Grand Hall. The event was graced by distinguished guests including Lian Lu’s Honorary Chairman, Dato' Ng Kian Ping, Principal Madam Jiang Pei Juan, Newman Catholic College Principal Mr. Ng Wah Biu, Vice Principal Ms. Ng Pui Ha, and the Chairman of the Health Culture and Education Mutual Aid Society, Mr. Ip Kin Hang, who all bore witness to this significant moment.

During the ceremony, Dato' Ng Kian Ping expressed in his speech that this alliance not only brings invaluable opportunities to both schools’ teachers and students but also serves as a vital bridge promoting cultural exchange between the two regions. He looks forward to both sides deepening cooperation in academic research, artistic development, and sports exchange in the future, achieving resource sharing and mutual benefits.
Principal Jiang Pei Juan also stated in her speech that the signing of the sister school agreement is only the starting point of the collaboration. Going forward, the two schools will continually promote educational innovation through regular exchange visits, online collaborative courses, and joint activities, nurturing a new generation of students with an international outlook and cross-cultural communication skills.
After the signing ceremony, teachers and students from both sides immediately engaged in a diverse array of exchange activities. Lian Lu thoughtfully arranged for their own students to host groups, guiding the Hong Kong teachers and students through locally distinctive experiential courses, including Chinese orchestra performances, batik (Batik) art, volleyball, and activities integrating SDG and STEM technology, granting visitors a comprehensive experience of Malaysia’s rich multicultural and educational features.

In addition, Lian Lu students delivered a series of splendid cultural performances during the ceremony, such as the powerful Chinese orchestral piece "Fearless", the auspicious traditional lion dance "Le Yi Lion Dance", and the oriental-flavored dance "Golden Serpent, Dragon’s Chant", fully showcasing their talent and cultural heritage. The Hong Kong delegation was full of praise, with continuous applause and a heated atmosphere throughout the event.
The signing of this sister school agreement not only deepens the ties between Lian Lu Secondary School and Hong Kong's Newman Catholic College, but also establishes a solid platform for educational cooperation between the two regions. Looking forward, both parties will continue to expand the scope of cooperation, joining hands to cultivate outstanding youths with academic strength, cultural literacy, and an international perspective, jointly embarking onto a broader educational stage.
