Chinese Premier Li Qiang arrived at Johannesburg International Airport, South Africa on the evening of November 20 local time by chartered plane to attend the 20th G20 Leaders' Summit.

Prior to arriving in Johannesburg, Li Qiang officially visited Zambia.

The G20 Summit will be held in Johannesburg, South Africa from November 22 to 23. The theme of this G20 Summit is "Unity, Equality, Sustainability," focusing on debt relief and financing measures to support developing countries in coping with climate change-related disasters.

The G20 Summit is usually attended by heads of state. For this summit, Chinese President Xi Jinping, US President Trump, and Russian President Putin will not be attending.

● White House: Sends Representative for Host Handover

South Africa previously stated that the US had changed its initial stance of boycotting the summit and hoped to participate in some form. However, on the 20th, the White House clarified that the US would not attend the formal G20 meetings, and would only send representatives to confirm that the US will take over as next year's host at the conclusion of this summit.

In September, Trump announced that he would host next year's G20 Summit at his golf club in Doral, Miami, Florida.

AFP reported that Washington previously announced it would not participate in this summit, citing US opposition to the agenda priorities set by the current rotating chair, South Africa.

According to reports, the US boycott of this G20 summit is similar to when Trump refused to send official representatives to attend the COP30 climate summit in Brazil.

The G20 includes 19 member countries, as well as the European Union (EU) and African Union, and these members take turns hosting events focused on economic policy. The US is one of the most influential members.
