At Least 33 Dead After Colombian Military Transport Plane Crashes

A Colombian Air Force transport plane crashed just minutes after taking off from an airport in Putumayo Province on the 23rd, causing at least 33 deaths and injuring dozens.

The local government secretary, Claros, told RCN television that 81 people were injured in the incident.

The military confirmed on the 23rd that the crashed military transport plane was carrying 114 soldiers and 11 crew members.
The crashed military transport plane was carrying 125 people.
The plane in question was a C-130 'Hercules' Air Force transport aircraft, which was flying from Puerto Leguízamo to Puerto Asís and carrying Colombian army soldiers at the time of the accident. It has only been confirmed so far that the plane malfunctioned shortly after takeoff and crashed about 2 kilometers from the runway.

Videos circulating on social media show a large plume of gray smoke rising at the scene, and debris from the aircraft scattered everywhere.
