(Miri, 20th) – The "Sarawak Water Infrastructure Forum: Balancing Strategic Management and Technological Innovation" will be held on the 23rd of this month (Saturday) from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm at the Auditorium of Pustaka Negeri Sarawak, Miri, and the public is encouraged to participate.
The aim of the forum is to provide a platform for collaborative exchange, discussing how to drive sustainable development of urban and rural water supply systems through strategic management and the application of emerging technologies in Sarawak’s unique geographical and socio-economic context, as well as to identify the associated challenges and opportunities. This initiative also aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially Goal 6 Clean Water and Sanitation; Goal 11 Sustainable Cities and Communities; and Goal 13 Climate Action.
The keynote speaker of this forum is Ir. Ts. Awg Mohammad Fadillah Awg Redzuan, Director of the Sarawak Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB), with Ir. Meheron Selowara Joo, Chairman of IEM Miri Branch, as the moderator.
Invited speakers include Mr. Edward Muol, Deputy Director (Geoscience) of the Department of Mineral and Geoscience Malaysia Kuching branch; Ir. Ts. GS. Dr. Geoffrey Ranggu Anak Thomas, Miri Area Manager of Sarawak Water Sdn. Bhd.; Ts. Liew Shuk Huey, Head of Department of Environment (DOE) Miri Branch; Mdm Sinanawati Marto, Senior Environmental Control Officer of the Natural Resources and Environment Board (NREB) Miri Division; and Professor Dr. John Lau Sie Yon, Associate Dean of Research & Development, Faculty of Engineering and Science, Curtin University Malaysia.
