(Kuala Lumpur, 28th) A Light Rail Transit (LRT) train derailed on Thursday morning, but fortunately, no casualties were reported.

Rapid KL issued a statement confirming that a LRT train derailed at the track switching area near Chan Sow Lin Station, affecting the services of the Ampang/Sri Petaling Line.

The statement pointed out that there were 25 passengers on board at the time of the incident. Authorities subsequently followed operating procedures to move the passengers to a safe location, and no injuries were reported in the incident.

The statement added that the technical team is currently conducting further investigations into the incident and carrying out repair works at the site.

To ensure passengers are able to continue their journeys, the company has arranged alternative solutions, including trains departing every 4 minutes from Sentul Timur Station which will turn back at Pudu Station; trains running every 8 minutes between Cheras Station and Platform 1 at Salak Selatan Station; trains every 5 minutes between Ampang Station and Platform 1 at Pandan Jaya Station; and trains every 4 minutes from Putra Heights Station which will turn back at Salak Selatan Station.

Authorities have also provided free shuttle buses to and from Hang Tuah, Chan Sow Lin, Maluri, and Pandan Jaya stations.

Rapid KL also encourages those heading to Kuala Lumpur city center to take the MRT Putrajaya Line and transfer at Sungai Besi Station.

The company apologizes for the inconvenience caused and urges passengers to stay updated via the official social media channels.

In addition, Rapid KL recommends passengers to continue following the Rapid KL official social media and the MyRapid PULSE app for the latest information.
