(Kuala Lumpur, 8th) The Minister in the Prime Minister's Department in charge of religious affairs, Zulkifli Hasan, advised the public to refer any issues related to Islam to authoritative bodies for handling, so as to avoid confusion.

He pointed out that the views expressed by the Federal Territories Religious Department are not biased; instead, they are based on the Quran, Sunnah, and recognized religious leaders.

“Nowadays, too many people are speaking out and expressing opinions, but we have authoritative bodies. Therefore, we should leave it to the relevant organizations to provide their perspectives from the best angle, and we should also accept their advice.”

He made these remarks to the media on Sunday (February 8th), after participating in the 2026 Islamic Council Islamic Charity Fund Center (MAIWP) running event, in response to the issue where Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming was questioned by PAS Member of Parliament Siti Zailah from Rantau Panjang for using Muslim vocabulary while speaking in the Dewan Rakyat, the lower house of Parliament, recently.

The Federal Territories Religious Department issued a statement on Friday (February 6th) explaining that non-Muslims may use Islamic terms in daily life, as long as they do not demean the sacred status, do not contain elements of insult, and are not used in incorrect contexts.
