(Brunei, 27th) The 26th World Customs Organization (WCO) Asia-Pacific Regional Heads of Customs Administration Meeting was held from May 18 to 22, 2025, in Hong Kong, China.
Interim Director-General Mohamad Aziz from the Royal Customs and Excise Department (RCED) led senior officials to attend the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Hong Kong Customs Commissioner Chan Tze-da, who serves as the WCO Asia-Pacific Regional Vice-Chairman.
The meeting, attended by heads of customs administrations from the WCO Asia-Pacific region, provided a platform for cooperation and coordination on customs matters, such as promoting trade activities in the Asia-Pacific region. The meeting content included the latest review and update of the WCO strategic plan, reports from regional offices on capacity-building projects, compliance and enforcement actions, as well as the recognition of WCO regional training centers and customs laboratories.
The WCO Asia-Pacific Regional Meeting plays a crucial role in aligning Asia-Pacific members with the main objectives of the WCO.
In order to strengthen close relations with WCO Asia-Pacific members, regular exchanges of information on current global customs issues were conducted during the meeting, such as interactions with the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China, the Royal Malaysian Customs Department, the Australian Border Force, the Maldives Customs Service, and the WCO Secretary-General. The WCO Asia-Pacific Heads of Customs Administration (RHCA) meeting is held twice a year, with the 27th meeting scheduled to be held by the end of this year.
The Brunei Royal Customs and Excise Department will host the 34th ASEAN Directors-General of Customs Meeting in Bandar Seri Begawan from June 3 to 5.
