SJ Concert '3 Audience Members Fall Over Broken Barricade' — Management Company Apologizes

The Korean supergroup "Super Junior" (SJ) held a concert on the night of June 5th at the Seoul Olympic Gymnastics Arena (KSPO DOME) when a spectator barrier suddenly broke, causing several fans to fall from a height and get injured. The management company, "SM Entertainment," later issued a statement saying that a total of three audience members fell and were injured. They were immediately sent to the hospital for examination and treatment. The injuries were sprains and contusions, requiring about two weeks of rest and treatment. The company expressed deep apologies and stated that it will strengthen safety management in the future to prevent similar incidents.

SJ was holding the encore of their 20th debut anniversary world tour concert "SUPER SHOW 10 SJ-CORE in SEOUL" in their hometown, performing for three consecutive days at the KSPO DOME. The night of the 5th was the final show. According to on-site footage, when Ryeowook approached the stands to interact with fans, many people surged forward to shake his hand. The temporary barricade gave way and broke, causing some of the audience to fall. Ryeowook was startled and immediately ran to get staff members to help.

Afterwards, "SM Entertainment" released a statement saying that during the encore performance of the last song, a safety barricade set up on the side collapsed, resulting in three audience members falling and getting injured. They were immediately sent to the hospital for necessary examination and treatment. The statement expressed deep apologies to the injured fans and their families, and the company said it would do its utmost to provide medical support until the injured fully recover.

According to fans at the scene, there was a notice posted at the accident area saying "Do not lean on temporary barricade," but as fans surged forward the tragedy still occurred. Some of the injured fans posted updates on social media to reassure others, saying they underwent X-ray and CT scans after being sent to the hospital, and that until treatment was over, Ryeowook and another member, along with staff, stayed with them the entire time and showed concern. Fans were very touched and praised Ryeowook for being such a warm-hearted person, also emphasizing that the accident had nothing to do with the group members, and that the fault lay with the venue. They said they would not stop supporting the group because of this incident.
