DENGKIL, April 1 (Bernama) -- A viral press statement displaying the percentage of student achievement by race for the 2025 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) results is untrue, said Deputy Education Minister Wong Kah Woh.

He said that the Ministry of Education (MOE) did not issue the statement, and the information was not part of the official results announcement made yesterday.

"What has gone viral is 101 per cent incorrect. That is definitely not true," he told reporters after a working visit to the Replacement Building Project (Daif 2022) at Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Tamil (SJKT) Dengkil here today.

Wong said the conduct of the SPM examination and the announcement of results were carried out in accordance with established benchmarks and standards, without any compromise.

“For this SPM, we conducted the examination in compliance with all set benchmarks and standards for every single subject. (Similarly) for the date of the results announcement... we ensured the results were released at 10 am simultaneously nationwide,” he said.

He added that announcing the SPM results nationwide in a uniform manner ensures transparency.

"This is a standard that the MOE will not compromise on," he assured.

Wong was responding to a viral press statement with the MOE logo circulating on social media since yesterday, which contains student achievement percentages by race.

The statement included an analysis claiming that Malay candidates who took the 2025 SPM had the lowest pass percentage compared to Chinese and Indian students.
