Recently, the 'fire-spraying cake' trend has become popular on the Chinese social platform Xiaohongshu due to its unique 'atmosphere,' prompting many netizens to imitate and share their own versions. Wang Tianyu, a 26-year-old Chinese actress who appeared in Stephen Chow’s movie 'The Mermaid,' tried this trend on her birthday. Unfortunately, while attempting the alcohol 'fire-spraying' trick, she was involved in an accident and suffered burns to her eyebrows, chin, and neck.

According to 'Xiaoxiang Morning News', the 7th was actress Wang Tianyu’s 27th birthday. That night, she was outdoors holding her birthday cake, took a mouthful of high-proof baijiu, and prepared to spray it onto the already-lit birthday candles, attempting to recreate the trending 'fire-spraying cake' effect for a memorable video.

It has been revealed that Wang Tianyu was using alcohol with an alcohol content as high as 96 degrees for her fire-spraying attempt. However, during the process, the flame went out of control and the 'backdraft' directly hit her face, resulting in burns to her eyebrows, neck, and other areas.

After the incident, Wang Tianyu posted a video on her social media platform, stating that when she searched for 'birthday' or 'birthday fire spraying' on Xiaohongshu, all the results were refined, cool, and atmospheric content, with tags like 'looks good' and 'perfect for photos,' but there wasn’t a single warning about potential dangers.

She criticized this trend, saying that for the sake of traffic, only the 'cool' side is shown and huge safety hazards are deliberately concealed, which is extremely irresponsible. She stated that the platform’s algorithms and creators work together to package danger as a trend, hiding the risks of burns behind filters and background music. This isn’t sharing—it’s causing harm.
