The United Nations World Tourism Organization held the 'Best Tourism Villages' award ceremony on the 17th in Huzhou City, Zhejiang Province. At the event, the list of the 2025 'Best Tourism Villages' was announced, with four villages from China's application being selected.
After evaluation by the UNWTO, 52 villages from 29 countries were included in the 2025 'Best Tourism Villages' list, including Huanggang Village in Shuangjiang Town, Liping County, Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture, Guizhou Province; Jikaiyi Village in Mo'erdoshan Town, Danba County, Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province; Dongluo Village in Qianduo Town, Xinghua City, Taizhou, Jiangsu Province; and Digang Village in Hefu Town, Nanxun District, Huzhou City, Zhejiang Province, China.
Up to now, China’s total number of selected villages has reached 19.
The above four Chinese villages each have unique characteristics in natural landscapes, cultural forms, and development paths, demonstrating a rich and diverse trajectory in the development of rural tourism.
The United Nations World Tourism Organization launched the 'Best Tourism Villages' initiative in 2021, aiming to promote the role of tourism in appreciating and preserving rural areas and their associated landscapes, knowledge systems, ecosystems, and cultural diversity, as well as local values and activities (agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, and fishing) and gastronomy.
