The 21st meeting of the 14th Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China convened its first plenary session on the afternoon of the 25th in Beijing. According to Xinhua News Agency, the meeting heard a report on the "representative qualifications of individual delegates" and reviewed "relevant appointments and removals." Whether these reports and personnel cases involve recently investigated and dismissed Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission Zhang Youxia or other party, government, or military officials has again attracted attention.
Xinhua reported that an important task of this Standing Committee meeting is to prepare for the upcoming fourth session of the 14th National People's Congress. The meeting reviewed the draft work report of the Standing Committee, reviewed three proposals from the Chairmen's Council about the agenda draft for the fourth session, the draft list of the presidium and secretary-general, and the draft list of attendees, and also reviewed the report draft on the legal clean-up work and the handling of relevant laws and decisions by the Standing Committee.
The meeting listened to a report from Yang Xiaochao, director of the Standing Committee’s Credentials Review Committee, on the qualifications of individual representatives. The meeting also reviewed relevant appointments and removals.
So far, Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission Zhang Youxia and another dismissed member, CMC member Liu Zhenli, still retain their identities as representatives to the National People's Congress of China. Both are affiliated with the PLA (including the Armed Police) delegation.
