The 2026 China Film Directors' Night was held on the evening of the 5th in Yantai, Shandong. Venice Best Actress Xin Zhilei, Best Actor Tony Leung Ka Fai, actress Shu Qi, Bosco Wong, and Taiwan’s Best Actor Wu Kangren all attended, lighting up the event with their star power.
At the event, the China Film Directors’ Guild revealed multiple "2025 Annual Honor" awards. Among them, Ne Zha: Birth of the Demon Child won Best Film; Cai Shangjun won Best Director for The Sun Hangs High; Tony Leung Ka Fai and Xin Zhilei respectively took home Best Actor and Actress for Chasing the Wind and The Sun Hangs High. Shu Qi won Best Hong Kong/Taiwan Director for The Girl, and Chen Kaige received the Outstanding Contribution Director award.
After previously winning Best Actor at the Hong Kong Directors’ Guild Awards, Tony Leung Ka Fai’s latest win makes him the first-ever actor to clinch the Best Actor title from both the Hong Kong and China Directors’ Guilds. Onstage, he thanked the jury and the cast and crew of Chasing the Wind: “This is my first time coming to this beautiful seaside city. Across from my hotel is a shipyard—I see myself as just a small part, even a screw, of a big ship. I hope that all of us working in Chinese cinema can unite in the future, following the director as the engine to ride the winds and waves together.”
