A 74-year-old man has been dubbed the 'Fishing King' by netizens, as he fishes for at least 6 hours every day, and his skin has been tanned to a 'soy sauce' color. His son joked that when his father goes fishing at night, it's hard to spot where he's sitting.
According to Jiupai News, the elderly man from Hebei, China, has been fascinated with fishing since he was a boy. After retiring, he has never stopped, heading out with his fishing rod at 6:30 every morning, riding his electric bike to a nearby wild lake to fish, and not returning home until noon. He spends at least 6 hours by the riverside or fish pond every day.
Because of prolonged exposure to the sun, the man's skin has tanned into a deep soy sauce color, so dark even Africans would be amazed. His son joked, "He's actually even darker in real life than he looks in videos. When he night-fishes, you can hardly see him once he sits down."
After unexpectedly becoming popular online for his dark skin, people have been coming to watch him fish every day. However, the old man says his life hasn't been affected, as his greatest joy is simply fishing.
He catches four to five jin (2-2.5kg) of fish daily, mainly carp and crucian carp, which he takes home to eat. His family is very supportive of his fishing; his son sees it as a self-cultivating and enriching leisure activity.
Some people questioned whether he was hyping himself. The man's son replied: "Fishing itself is fun. Everyone fishes every day. Some say we are trying to hype. What's there to hype or not hype?"
