On May 3, elementary school students from a certain region in China dressed in Red Army uniforms and went to Vladivostok (Haishenwai) to participate in the children's parade commemorating Russia's Victory Day, calling it the "Great-Grandchildren of the Victors" parade. Chinese netizens described it as: "Truly unthinkable!"
During the "International Grandchildren of the Victors Children’s Victory Day Parade" held at the city center square, Chinese children participated in the event wearing gray uniforms with red armbands on their left arms.
This best deep-water port in the East once belonged to China but was seized by Tsarist Russia. On this land, Chinese people were massacred, and its name was changed to Vladivostok, which in Russian means "to rule the East."
In 1860, through the "Sino-Russian Treaty of Beijing," Tsarist Russia seized more than 400,000 square kilometers of Chinese territory east of the Ussuri River, including Haishenwai. Haishenwai was thus renamed. On July 2, 2020, the Russian Embassy posted on Weibo to “celebrate the 160th anniversary of the founding of Vladivostok,” and once again emphasized the meaning of "ruling the East"—which at the time led to nationwide outrage.
Now, while Russia celebrates the glory of occupying this region, not only does China, as the victim, not protest, but students even partake in the celebrations of the invaders!
Some netizens commented: “The glory of the descendants of invaders is just the shame of the invaded,” “If the Chinese ancestors massacred by Russia knew of this in the afterlife, what would they think of the actions of their unfilial descendants?”, “This is a hundred times more humiliating than being slapped in the face,” “Being slapped in the face is passive, but putting your own face at someone’s feet to be trampled is truly disgraceful,” “Perhaps the elementary students are unaware of this history, but their teachers don’t know? The organizers don’t know?”, “The degree of ignorance about history is truly outrageous!”, “Some people claim to be patriotic all day, always pro-Russia and anti-Ukraine, but in the end are the ones who most forget their ancestry.”
