(Miri, Feb 4) The 61st National Age Group Swimming Championships and International Invitational Meet will be held from February 5 to 8, 2026, in Kuala Lumpur, attracting about 1,200 top young swimmers from across the country.
Thirteen swimmers from Top Speed Aquatic Swimming Club Miri have qualified for the championships and departed today to represent Sarawak at the national-level competition.
Among the experienced swimmers in the team are Bong Rui Jie and Louis Tie Xun Rui, Claire Lau Yu Rong, and Liysha Liung Chen.
The other nine swimmers making their first appearance representing Sarawak are Abbygail Kong Jia Chee, Celine Tiong Yi En, Chan Ka Ming , Rachel Sim Qi Yun , Ethan Yii Shu Hong , Yuen En Chee , Janelle Tu Shao Han, Camila Chong Xin Ying , and Evert Soh En Hao .
Club advisor and coach David Chung said the championships mark an important milestone for the swimmers as they aim to qualify for the 2026 Malaysia Games (SUKMA) in Selangor.
He expressed hope that the swimmers would perform consistently, achieve personal bests, gain valuable experience competing at the national and international levels, and bring pride to Sarawak.
