A family tragedy occurred in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu. A man brutally murdered his 2-year-old niece in his backyard, throwing her head into a pond.
According to a report from the 'Times of India,' this horrific incident took place in the early morning of May 22 in Emayaneswaran village, Ramanathapuram district, Tamil Nadu. The victimized little girl was playing with her cousin at the front of the house at the time. Police investigation reveals that the attacker is the girl's uncle, only 20 years old, who suffers from bipolar disorder and is under medication treatment.
That morning, the man suddenly appeared and took the girl to his backyard. Police indicated that the murder weapon was a sharp blade previously hidden at the residence; the man beheaded the girl and discarded her body in the nearby pond. The cousin noticed the missing girl and alerted the family, who then hurriedly reported it to the police. Police promptly searched and eventually found the body and head behind the house and in the pond separately; the suspect uncle was apprehended that afternoon.
The police stated that the suspect was mentally unstable and incoherent during interrogation. Authorities have contacted psychiatric experts for psychological evaluation and initiated a judicial investigation.
The girl was an only child, with her father being 32 years old and her mother 28 years old.
