Man Deliberately Pushes Monkey, Almost Causing It to Fall Off Cliff; Emei Mountain Places Him on Uncivilized Tourist Blacklist

At China’s Sichuan Emei Mountain Scenic Area, a monkey was quietly sitting on a railing near a cliff eating an orange when it was suddenly pushed forcefully by a male tourist with both hands, nearly causing the monkey to fall off the cliff. The incident has attracted widespread attention.

The Emei Mountain Scenic Area Management Committee issued a statement on the 7th saying that the man has been found and placed on an “uncivilized tourist blacklist,” and will be prohibited from entering the Emei Mountain Scenic Area for the next three years.

A video uploaded online by a netizen claimed the incident took place on May 5. The video shows a monkey quietly sitting on a railing eating an orange when a man, approximately in his 20s and wearing glasses, sneaks up from the right and suddenly extends both hands, attempting to forcefully push the monkey off the cliff outside the railing.

Originally focused on eating, the monkey was startled and screamed. Fortunately, as it was being pushed over the railing, it managed to quickly reach out and grab the edge of the railing, stabilizing itself and avoiding a fall off the mountain.

After narrowly escaping death, the monkey immediately escaped along the railing, while the man with glasses flashed a smug grin and sidestepped away from the monkey.

The person filming said they disdained the malicious act of pushing the monkey and had complained to scenic area staff, but the man involved had already left the area.

The video quickly went viral online, with the majority of netizens criticizing the man for his cruelty: “No matter how bad a monkey is, it only snatches food, but that's nothing compared to a person scheming behind its back,” “Shows he might have it in him to push a person off a cliff,” and “Does he really think he looks cool???
