(Miri, 15th) The Deputy Minister of the Sarawak Ministry of Women, Children and Community Wellbeing, Dato Rosey Yunus, recently inspected the Ramadan bazaar in Bekenu.
During the meeting, she stated that the flood disaster that occurred in early February led to a decrease in the number of stalls at the Bekenu Ramadan bazaar compared to 2024, as the cake-making and cooking equipment of many vendors were damaged to various extents.
She pointed out that there are only 52 stalls at the Ramadan bazaar this year, hoping these vendors can sustain their livelihoods, and hoping for more participants next year.
Additionally, Rosey Yunus also attended the distribution of assorted porridge organized by five non-governmental organizations in Bekenu at the Rural Transformation Centre (RTC).
It is reported that 1500 packets of assorted porridge were distributed to the local community at the event.
