Paetongtarn Reminisces About Her Time in Power, Hopes Pheu Thai Will Return to Governance

(Bangkok, 3rd) — Pheu Thai Party leader and former Prime Minister of Thailand, Paetongtarn Shinawatra, published a 23-minute-long video on her official Facebook page on October 2, reflecting on her year in office. She admitted that the political turbulence once left her disheartened, but she always held firm to her beliefs, and insisted that even though she is no longer Prime Minister, as long as Pheu Thai returns to power, the “DNA” passed down within the party would continue to serve the people.

The post pointed out that during the past two years under a government led by Pheu Thai, the party actively promoted policy implementation, confronted crises, and fulfilled its promises. Its core goal has always been to ensure people have a higher quality and happier life.

Pheu Thai stated that although established work has been interrupted, it still shoulders unfinished missions. The party will gradually release a series of videos entitled “Pheu Thai Will Return,” featuring voices of party members and demonstrating readiness to return to governance, reiterating that once they regain the people’s trust, they will continue to fulfill their mission.

The first video is personally led by Paetongtarn. She is not only Thailand’s 31st prime minister but also the youngest female prime minister in the nation’s history. In the video, she frankly discusses the challenges arising from Thailand’s long-term political uncertainty, and criticizes the situation of “changing prime ministers every year,” saying it weakens the stability of government and shakes the country’s foundation, calling on future leaders to take a long-term perspective.

Reviewing her one-year tenure, she mentioned that right after taking office, she was faced with floods in Chiang Rai Province, realizing the necessity of establishing a scientific water resource management mechanism. Afterwards, she dealt with a bus fire, the collapse of the National Audit Office building due to an earthquake, the impact of the “Trump Tariffs,” and also border issues. She said, in the face of successive crises, the government team did their utmost to respond and established a more comprehensive disaster emergency response system.

Paetongtarn emphasized that if Pheu Thai returns to office, it will continue to promote several key policies, including a 20-baht BTS fare on all lines, the “Thais Have Homes” project, the National Education Fund, and the “30-Baht Universal Healthcare” scheme. In addition, they will make every effort to develop the tourism industry, create international-level entertainment projects, implement the “Artificial Destination” plan, and promote the creative industry “THACCA” initiative to boost the circular economy.

She also stressed that in the future, they will persist in cracking down on telecom fraud and drug-related crimes. She even disclosed that she once received an AI-generated scam call, where the voice sounded almost identical to “President Trump”, further strengthening her determination to combat fraud.

As a “Millennial Prime Minister,” Paetongtarn said she understands the needs of different generations and always maintained humility and respect during her administration. She said, “In this position, what I must do is stay steadfast, keep my focus on making the country better, and ensuring people live happier lives.”

She concluded by emphasizing that Pheu Thai has inherited the political “DNA” from the period of the “Thai Rak Thai Party,” always prioritizing the improvement of people’s livelihoods as its core mission. Although political turbulence had once discouraged her, the support of the people always gave her strength. She firmly believes that even if she is no longer Prime Minister, this “DNA” still exists and will continue to benefit the people and lay a foundation for future generations.
