South Korean actress Kang Soe-ya's passing from stomach cancer was reported on the 14th. She was only 31. The sad news has sent shockwaves through Korea’s entertainment industry. According to Korean media, though her life was short, she displayed sincere acting as well as extraordinary acts of kindness, leaving many feeling sorrowful.
Kang Soe-ya appeared in productions such as “Assembly,” “The Flower in Prison,” and “Love Again.” Even when her health was extremely poor and after two rounds of chemotherapy, she still managed to complete the filming of the movie “Eternal Love,” showing a very dedicated attitude.
Reports state that to raise public awareness of ALS, Kang Soe-ya participated in the “Ice Bucket Challenge” and created murals. Through a video, she said, “I hope that small hearts can gather together to reach out to patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and their families.” She wished that everyone fighting illness could have a happy life—little knowing that she herself would pass away from cancer. Kang Soe-ya’s farewell ceremony will be held on the morning of the 16th and she will be buried at her family’s cemetery in Ham-an, South Gyeongsang Province.
