Chinese President Xi Jinping said that the healthy and stable development of China-Canada relations serves the common interests of both countries during his meeting with visiting Canadian Prime Minister Carney.
According to China Central Television, Xi met with Carney, who is on an official visit to China, on the morning of the 16th at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
Xi pointed out that their meeting in Gyeongju, South Korea last October opened a new chapter of positive transformation in China-Canada relations. The healthy and stable development of China-Canada relations serves the common interests of both countries and is also conducive to world peace, stability, and prosperous development.

The Chinese press release quoted Carney as saying he thanked the strategic partnership between the two countries for bringing opportunities to their peoples, "I believe this will also benefit the world."
He believes that, based on the good cooperation in the past, Canada and China can work together to build a new type of strategic partnership adapted to the global situation, which will bring stability, security, and prosperity to the people on both sides of the Pacific.
According to foreign media reports, during his meeting with Xi, Carney said that their meeting last November was a turning point for the warming of China-Canada relations, and that the healthy and stable state of relations is not only in the interests of both parties but also conducive to world peace and stability.
