US media reported that Chinese President Xi Jinping will not make a stop in New York to attend the United Nations General Assembly and deliver a speech when he visits the United States next month.
The US news website Politico, citing four anonymous sources, reported that Xi has no plans to attend the United Nations General Debate that begins on September 22.
The report stated that Xi's visit to the US will be limited to the US-China summit on September 24. One of the sources said Xi may arrive in the US on September 23 and leave on September 25.
The White House said in a statement that Xi will visit the White House on September 24, but declined to comment on any other possible arrangements during Xi's visit.
Earlier, Chinese officials announced that at the invitation of US President Trump, Xi Jinping will make a state visit to the US this fall. Trump has said that Xi will visit the US on September 24.
